A Sunday Treat At Dakshineswar Kali Temple Kolkata

It would have been a regular and lazy sunday that day which comes every weekend unless there is something special to cherish about. But thanks to my friend, let's call him 'L'; who planned to visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata early morning to perform pooja rituals in the temple to welcome his new motorcycle TVS Apache RTR to the family.

As we were heading towards Dakshineswar Temple from Howrah, we have already checked the normal opening and closure timings as well as aarti timings of the Kali Temple from these two reliable website sources.
He caught a Brahmin Pandit from the temple premises itself. One can find everything related to performing puja and rituals from the "Dala Arcade" building which is built inside the temple premises.

As soon as the pooja finished, it was time for a special sunday treat by L. Yes of course, he bought a new bike, performed rituals at temple, thereafter it became mandatory to give treat to friends for this welcome change. So we moved into the local snacks corner within the temple premises, just at the entrance gate of the temple if you have noticed. Ordered plates of 'Hing Kachori' or 'Hing Kochuri' as you call it in bengali as it is a Bengali Dish, which was served along with sweet Chana Dal(Gram Pulse). We didn't stop there as we felt it will be stupid to not to opt for 'Lencha'; a sweet bengali dessert, which I feel is the taller brother of 'Gulab Jamun'.

Sunday Treats for a planned Sunday Treat
This way it became a sunday treat to cherish for life. I always recall this day whenever I see someone buying a new motorcycle. As it is mandatory to perform Vahan (Vehicle) Puja for newly purchased Motorcycles and Cars before going for a long ride on these vehicles. Just to bring auspiciousness to the new member in the family. And with such a nice spot like Dakshineswar Kali Temple, It is really impossible for Kolkata and Howrah residents to ignore these sacred holy places which have been worshipped for divinity and security since ages by most of the Hindus worldwide.

If I had two extra hours in a day,I would......

Picture courtesy-Internet Now a days, every person's life is so busy and so hectic that we do not get time for other things.Even we do not get much time to complete our pending works on the same day or other day.In this way,the pending works get clotted and becomes a huge mountain to climb upon .          I was thinking that in these busy hours of work or study,if I get two more extra hours in a day, what will I do ?         Whether I will spend them in completing my pending works of getting a new Ration Card,as we have from shifted from the rented house to our own home on the other side of the town,or will I go to meet some of my friends and relatives with whom I never find time to meet, though they are in the same town .        I have got other options also to spend my time, like meeting and having fun with my old classmates hovering around Kolkata or visiting my old area ...

Viewing 51 Feet Tall Lord Shiva Statue at Bangeshwar Mahadev Mandir in Howrah, Eastern India.

One of it's kind in Eastern India, this 51 feet tall Lord Shiva statue was unveiled by Honorable President Of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday, December 13, 2015. The President along with his team and Governor of West Bengal Keshari Nath Tripathi visited the famous temple ' Natun Mandir' aka ' Naya Mandir' which means 'Newest Temple' in English, i.e, Seth Banshidhar Jalan Smriti Mandir or Bangeshwar Mahadev Mandir in Howrah early morning on Sunday. FYI, the Shiva Temple rests in between Howrah Railway Station and Salkia's Bandhaghat area exactly on Salkia School Road which is both way connected to Kolkata either by road or by river through Golabari-Armenian Ferry Service as well as Bandhaghat-Ahiritola Ferry service too. It would hardly take an hour to reach the landmark if you are connecting the nearby dots I mentioned above during peak traffic hours. First Day of inaugurating the tallest ever lord Shiva in Eastern India at Bangeshwar...
